Guidelines for Designating Biobased Products for Federal Procurement


The USDA BioPreferredSM Program guidelines for classifying and procuring biobased products is governed by federal regulations. These regulations are outlined in 7 CFR 2902 with amendments as published in the Federal Register.

The regulations are divided into two parts. Subpart A - General describes the overall process for designating biobased products and governs the Federal procurement of biobased products. Subpart B - Designated Items lists the approved biobased product categories and the specific federal requirements for biobased content and Federal procurement for products within a category.
